ALASKA | Alyse Galvin

1.png

Alyse Galvin’s family first came to Alaska to serve in World War II. She is a third-generation Alaskan and like too many children in America, her family struggled with addiction, mental illness, and abuse, but she was determined to break the cycle. Her community and school teachers lifted her up and gave Alyse the tools and confidence she needed to persevere.

Alyse started working when she was eight years old, getting 25 cents a bag to take the trash out for the jewelry store down the street. She went on to work her way through college, eventually becoming the first in her family to earn a college degree.

She and her husband returned to Alaska to start their family. As a new mom, Alyse taught in the community school and was a substitute teacher in K-12 classes. She also owned two small businesses and managed a large hotel. Like over half of Alaskans who put Alaska before any party identification, she is a political independent, who won’t answer to party bosses— committed to only answer to the people she serves. If elected her priorities are to: grow the economy and create jobs in Alaska, invest in public safety, address the opioid epidemic, support common sense gun safety laws (comprehensive background checks), expand healthcare, strengthen public education and protect the environment.
