Desiree Tims was raised in Dayton, Ohio to a working-class family. She often talks about her Grandpa, who left school in 1st grade to start working in Ohio. Tims was the first in her family to go to a four-year college, and later law school. 

Tims has worked extensively in DC already. While in college, she volunteered with the Obama campaign and later interned in the White House. She then worked with Senators Sherrod Brown and Kristen Gillibrand, both of whom have endorsed her and worked to raise money for her campaign.

Tims has said that she is fighting for families, specifically working-class families like the one she was raised in. She wants to increase funding for infrastructure and create jobs for the people of Ohio, as well as support unions that protect the middle class. She has also laid out plans to protect our environment, from clean water to climate change policies.
