Where the Candidates Stand: Healthcare
Donald Trump
Trump ran in 2016 with a promise to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). While the administration has repealed elements of the Affordable Care Act, it has been unable to pass a replacement. The administration has repealed the individual mandate, allowed for less regulated plan options (that do not meet the ACA’s essential health benefits requirements) and has joined several states in a lawsuit to overturn the part of the ACA that protected individuals with pre-existing conditions.
Joe Biden
Joe Biden’s plan will Protect & Build On The Affordable Care Act. His plan would give Americans a public health insurance opiton like Medicare, it would also extend tax credits to lower costs, stop surprise billing and take on BIG Pharma to lower prescription drug costs. Biden would also double America’s investment in community health centers and restore funding to Planned Parenthood to ensure greater access, care and affordability for low-income and rural communities.
