Where the Candidates Stand: Worker's Rights
Joe Biden
Biden wants to increase the federal minimum wage to $15, as well as stop companies from classifying low wage workers as managers in order to avoid paying them the overtime they’ve earned. He wants to stop Republican attempts to strip away workers’ rights to form unions and collectively bargain. Biden is proposing a plan to grow a stronger, more inclusive middle class – the backbone of the American economy – by strengthening public and private sector unions and helping all workers bargain successfully for what they deserve.
As president, Biden will:
Check the abuse of corporate power over labor and hold corporate executives personally accountable for violations of labor laws;
Encourage and incentivize unionization and collective bargaining; and
Ensure that workers are treated with dignity and receive the pay, benefits, and workplace protections they deserve.
